General Introduction
Guangzhou
University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), founded in 1956,
is one of the oldest universities of its kind in China. Being a
key university of TCM, it was formerly run by the State Administration
of TCM and is now administered co-operatively by both the State
Administration of TCM and the Guangdong Provincial Government. Situated
at the foot of Baiyun Mountain, the university covers an area of
400,000 square meters and has a floor space of 330,000 square meters.
The value of the equipment and facilities of the university amounts
to RMB 108 million. There are 770,000 books in the library of the
university.
The university consists of First College of Medicine, Second College
of Medicine, College of Basic Medical Sciences, College of pharmaceutical
Sciences, College of International Education, College of Continuing
Education, College of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, College of Management,
Department of Nursing Sciences, Department of Social Sciences, 13
research institutes and 6 affiliated hospitals. It was one of the
first higher learning institutions which were given the right to
award Master’s degrees and doctoral degrees in China. Currently,
doctoral degrees are awarded students from foreign countries and
Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions in 15 specialties, master degree
in 16 specialties and Bachelor’s Degree in 8 specialties. It is
one of the best universities of TCM in China, with many highly qualified
lecturers, a large number of advanced teaching equipments and a
great variety of academic branches. Today it has a regular teaching
faculty of 483 professors and over 700 lecturers and the total number
of its employees reaches 3,296 (including those in affiliated hospitals).
Now there are over 8,000 full-time students, and among them over
800 are post-graduate students and over 500 are from foreign countries
and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions.
Since
the university began to enroll overseas applicants in 1974, it now
has sent out 1,023 graduates who came from 113 foreign countries
and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions. It has opened 290 short-term
training classes of TCM since 1979, and more than 3,000 health care
workers from 85 countries and regions have benefited greatly from
its study courses.
Guangzhou University of TCM warmly welcomes the prospective students
interested in the sciences of traditional Chinese medicine.

Note:
(1)
General Program of Acupuncture and Moxibustion includes Basic Science
of TCM, Diagnostics of TCM, science of meridians and acupoints,
techniques, therapeutics of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Qigong,
Massage, Tai Ji Quan. And clinic practice.
(2) Appointments for the special programs and advanced program
of acupuncture and moxibustion should be made in advance, and the
programs will be given with adequate participants.
(3) A special arrangement can be made for a group of more than
five members, with a confirmation three months in advance.
(4) All standards of fee are subject to change without prior notice
2. ONE-YEAR CLINIC PROGRAM REQUIRED FOR QUALIFICATION
EXAM FOR TCM PRACTITONERS.
From 2002, Guangzhou University of TCM has begun to accept the
application of foreign graduates and graduates of Hong Kong. Macao,
and Taiwan region for on-year clinical program required for qualification
exam for TCM practitioners. After on year of practice in the affiliated
hospitals of our university. The applicants who had the certificate
of our university(at least undergraduate certificate) can apply
for the national qualification exam for TCM Practitioners.
The fee charged for the clinical practice for the foreign applicants
and applicants from Hong Kong. Macao and Taiwan: foreigners 3600
USD/ year, residents from Hong Kong. Macao and Taiwan 3400 USD/year.
Registration fee: 50 USD/person. The costs for meals, accommodations,
transportation as well as other expenses should be on the participants’
own account.
3. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1).
Short Term Training Program
(1) Heath care providers graduated from a medical university or
college, or licensed in their countries or regions, or sity or college.
Or licensed in their countries or regions, or
(2) Health care providers with certain practical experience and
with minimum high school education. Or common people interested
in TCM science and with minimum high school education.
2). One year Clinic Program Required for the Qualification Examination
of TCM Practitioners:
Graduate of this university with a bachelor degree of medicine
or a higher degree.
4. APPLICATION
1. Short Term Training Program
The
application for admission should be made in writing form to the
international college of the university. Indicating the program
to be attended, together with a duplicate of each required credential.
A non-refundable registration fee must accompany the application.
Successful applicant will receive the admission notification for
visa applying. The registration fee should be sent to: account number

Road, Guangzhou.
2. One year Clinic Program Required for Qualification Examination
of TCM Practitioners.
(1) This university’s graduates from foreign countries or Hong
Kong. Macao and Taiwan apply for the clinic program to the international
college of the university with the certificates. And the filled
application form. An enrolled notification of the clinic program
is issued after the application is evaluated by the university and
the TCM administrations of Guangdong Province.
(2) Generally, the foreign graduates or graduates from Hong Kong.
Macao and Taiwan will be arranged to practice one year continuously
in the first and second affiliated hospitals will design a plan
for the program and arrange the applicants to practice in relevant
departments and to take the clinical test of the examination.
(3) After completing the clinic program, the foreign applicants
and applicants from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan may apply for the
qualification examination in the local office of the qualification
examination and submit the relevant materials within the period
announced by the proclamation according to the rules of the law
of Professional Physicians of the Peoples Republic of China and
Interim Procedures of Qualification Examination of Physicians. The
examination office will issue examination permission to a qualified
applicant. The International College of this university will provide
assistance to the applicants when they apply for the qualification
examination.
5. Certificate
1.Short Term Training Program
A certificate is to be issued to the participant who fulfilled
required subjects in the program attended and passed the examinations.
2.One-year Clinic Program for Qualification Exam of TCM Practitioners
⑴ Only the applicants who have the examination permission can
take the National Qualification Exam for physicians. The Qualification
Certificate of Physicians issued by the Ministry of Health will
be received by the applicants who have passed the examination.
⑵ The applicants who failed to pass the examination may have to
take one-year clinical practice again before they apply for another
examination after evaluated by relevant organizations.
6. OTHER FEES
⑴
All fees incurred including meals, accommodations, transportation
and medical care during the period of study in the international
college of this university as well as the touring expenses should
be on the participants’ own account.
⑵ Accommodation Fees
The hotel on campus is available for the participants. The prices
of hotel rent list are for reference only. Please contact us before
you book the room.

*If the participants prefer to stay in the hotels outside the
campus. The international college of this university can offer to
make the reservation for them. However the transportation facility
between the campus and campus will not be provided by the international
college of this university.
⑶ Meal Fees: US$10/day, three meals a day in the dining hall of
the international college of this university. Chinese food is served.
⑷Guangzhou city tours organized by the international college of
this university are free of charge for participants in programs
of over one month. Expenses for trip out of the city should be paid
by the participants themselves.
7. OTHERS
⑴All
tuition should be paid upon the participants’ arrivals and are not
refundable after the beginning of the program.
⑵Participants should comply with the teaching arrangement and regulations
of the international college of this university
⑶This regulation comes into effect from the 1st January 2003
