　　In 1989, the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren) and Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) realized that Thailand was in need of qualified engineers who could work with international companies and organizations .It was suggested that a self-supporting and independent educational institution in which English is the medium of instruction be established.

　　1989年，日本经济组织联合会和泰国工业总会逐渐意识到泰国需要一批能够在国际性大公司或组织内胜任工程师职务的人员，这就意味着需要确立起以英语作为授课语言的教育体制，这种教育体制不依靠政府的财政支持，完全自立的。

　　Following approval from the Thammasat University Council and with funds provided by Keidanren and FTI, 89 students were admitted in 1992 to the approved international programs in civil engineering, electrical engineering, and industrial engineering. In 1993,Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the Cornerstone Laying Ceremony of the main building which was constructed at The Rangsit Campus of Thammasat University using part of the initial fund. In 1994, the "International Institute of Technology (IIT)" was established by Thammasat University Council. On June 28,1996.His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand graciously granted the institute a new name, "Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT)".

　　接下来泰国国立法政大学董事会正式批准并由日本经济组织联合会和泰国工业总会共同出资建立一个以英语为授课语言的国际学院。1992年第一批89名学生被国际学院录取就读，招生专业有土木工程、电机工程和工业工程。1993年法政大学决定用国际学院的原始资金在Rangsit校区建造一座国际学院的主楼，泰国皇室成员诗琳通公主出席了该楼的奠基典礼。1994年法政大学董事会把国际学院名称正式定为"国际科技学院"。1996年6月28日泰国国王授予学院一个新的名称"诗琳通国际科技学院"。

　　SIIT is financially and administratively separate from the government administration of the university and supervised by a Board of Trustees who reports to Thammasat University Council. The Institute consists of Eleven academic disciplines in five schools -building facilities engineering and civil engineering; electrical engineering and instrumentations and control technology; industrial engineering and mechanical engineering; electrical power engineering, energy technology, and environmental technology; information technology and management technology - five administrative divisions, a library and information services Center, an English unit, and a computer center. The institute's administration is headed by the director.

　　诗琳通国际科技学院的财务与行政管理不受校方行政职能部门的约束，但对法政大学董事会负责。诗琳通国际科技学院有五个系，十一个专业-建筑设备工程、土木工程、电机工程、仪器使用和控制工程、工业工程、机械工程、电力工程、能量技术、环境技术、信息技术及管理技术。学院内设有五个行政管理部门、图书馆、信息服务中心、计算机中心及英语培训部。学院直接受到学校董事会的领导。

　　The Board of Trustees, chaired by the Rector of Thammasat University, consists of representatives from Thammasat University (TU), FTI, Keidanren, scholars nominated by the University, and the Institute's Director. The SIIT Board of Trustees appoints the external Academic Review Committee comprising reputable professors in various fields to provide guidance and recommendations on academic affairs.

　　法政大学校长担任董事会主席，董事会成员由法政大学、日本经济组织联合会、泰国工业总会、推选出来的大学学者以及学院院长组成。诗琳通国际学院的董事会邀请各个领域的知名教授组成的委员会来对学院的事务进行指导和建议。
